 Fire experts watch tests at AEI factory Experts see tests for themselves - Fire prevention experts watched new tests on cables burning at first hand on a visit to the AEI factory at Birtley, Co Durham. Members of the Institution of Fire Prevention Officers say there is the potential for data corruption in fire performance cables and that an addition to the current BS 5839-1 (02) would be an option in how this corruption should be measured.

- Animal teaching hospital chooses MIC - A new Small Animal Teaching Hospital has used specialist Mineral Insulated Cables from AEI Cables to ensure safety of the animals in the event of a fire. - Wiring regulations – deadline closes for comments - The deadline has now passed – the 28th February – for comments on the 17th Edition of the Wiring Regulations. The new regulations BS 7671: 2008 come out in January 2008 and take effect from June the same year.
